Itinerary description
An easy trail through pictaresque valley of Monumento Natural El Morado. The trail starts next to Baños Morales / Lo Valdes. You can get there by car, the road is paved except for the final kilometer. The walk is easy, the first two kilometers are quite steep but once you reach the actual valley it's almost a stroll. However, it can get extremely hot so prepare accordingly (water, hat, suncream). The first lookout is at the Laguna El Morado, the trail finishes at another lookout at the altitude slightly above 2500masl. The glacier San Francisco can be seen from there, but it's retreating pretty fast and I guess not much will be left in a few years time. Still, it's a great walk as you can enjoy the incredible colours of the Andes, as illustrated by the Retumbadero on one of the attached photos.
