Itinerary description
We intended to take the 'Montgo' walk from the book by John and Christine Oldfield (Landscapes of the Costa Blanca.) The distance of this walk is said to be 13 km on page 45 of this book. Our track is 15,7 km, so something didn't go as intended. :-)
The walk turned out to be very strenuous. From time to time the path led over steep climbs and descents. It's very important to wear good footwear. Also take care to bring plenty of water and some food, especially on a hot day.
There are some spaces to park your car at the Ermita de Pare Pere. This spot is indicated on the track. If you can't park here there are more options nearby. The walk starts at the chain, also indicated on the track. There is a tap here where you can fill your water bottle, if needed. I have put some more waypoints on the track, indicating posts with signpost, among other things. These waypoints don't have a particular goal, but you can use them for your orientation.
The initial walk takes a path along the 'Cova del Camell' after you have passed the top. I think we missed that path and that's why we made an extra loop.
I hope you will enjoy this challenging hike.
