Complete route to see the most interesting points of the Bucegi Mountains. The route is long, but it is not technically difficult, but keep in mind that you are at more than 2000 meters above sea level. And climbing a slope at 300m is not the same as climbing it at 2000m. Be careful with the weather, as it can be very cold up there, but the sun can also hit you fairly.
The route begins at the Busteni Cable Car. There is a paid parking next door. 15 lei/day. Please note that there are only two cabins that come and go. And they fill up quickly. So if you don't want to wait more than an hour, get up early and be at least 30 minutes before they open. Also take into account the schedules, especially of the last cable car. When I was there it ended at 6:00 p.m. The round trip costs 140 lei and lasts 10 minutes, climbing 1000m of altitude.
The route begins along a path where we gain altitude comfortably. It is super indicated, almost too much. Follow the yellow markings/posts. It has no loss. We have the first slopes to climb to the ridge. From Cabanele to Omu you only have to go through the three peaks that appear on the track.
After resting in Omu, you go down, which is always better, and take the fork towards Costila. Marks/Posts with a red cross. The climb to Costila is not much. Once we reached the top in Costila (the latter didn't seem like a big deal to me, but there was a sea of clouds that didn't allow us to see further) Maybe the views are amazing, I can't tell you, look on Google to see. 😝
The last part towards Caraiman may be the most boring, but seeing the Cruz piece on a clear day has to be something interesting.
Remember to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. The path is not technical, but don't go with me in moccasins. Also it's cold up there, dress in layers.
***This track is inspired by the user antotemo who explains it wonderfully and much better than me. Eskerrik asko for the idea!!!
