Itinerary description
A secure parking lot in La Spezia (Park Centrostazione) allowed us to park near the main train station and travel to Monterosso.
We did this trail in mid April, which appeared to be a good time to visit Cinque Terre. Unfortunately, the Corniglia-Manarola and Manarola-Riomaggiore parts of the trail were closed due to required maintenance as the trail was damaged earlier. We started early in the morning as many other tourists visit each village by train later in the morning and afternoon, resulting in large crowds of people.
The trail is easy to do unless you hate lots of stairs.
