Itinerary description
Circuit road and trail mix to the village of Montemitro, Molise. We used hard surface and farm roads toward Montemitro. Beautiful bridge crossing over the Trigno River. Historic village of Montemitro very quiet in winter but comes alive in summer with festivals and influx of vacationers. After recrossing the river, we took a section of the Maurizio Salvatore Trail (marked Red/White) up the mountain back to Tufillo. Stunning views throughout hike of Majella, Trigno Valley, Adriatic Sea and mountain villages.
