Starting from the old Grgar, you first ascend Sveta Gora along the steep eastern slope to the tunnel that comes out of the Soča valley, then from Sveta Gora you reach Monte Vodice (mausoleum to General Gonzaga and not far from the monument to the Alpini). From here you quickly descend along the forest to Vodice (there are two houses in a clearing) from where a forest road returns to Grgar.
Pay attention to the tunnel under the hill of San Francecsco because it is long, completely dark, slippery with water and with some stretches equipped with steel rope and iron pegs. A good headlamp and a bit of experience is essential.
