Itinerary description
Nice and easy loop starting in Avesa (on the way back stop and visit the medieval lavatories, they are beautiful).
Monte Ongarine deep tufo caves, you wont see them until you get up on the hill. From here you can either follow my track (steep, little exposed) or take the track on you right. Both will take you on the top of Monte Ongarine. When the weather is good you'll have all Verona beneath your feet.
Following the signs of CAI on a gravel road with wonderful views of Monte Baldo, Garda lake and Lessinia in front of you (when the weather is good). At Agriturismo Altobello I choose a new path down in the woods. The path follows the Vajo Borago but higher up, it is a wonderful track in the forest. In this moment full of Hepatica nobilis (Feb-March), later you will find very nice shade.
Ignore the two signs on your right to Vajo Borago. Just keep on the track and you will arrive to Montecchio.
I recommend Trattoria Righetti, but call for reservation (it's ok in the morning before starting)

From here ca 600/700 m on SP 34B and then down and along the lovely Vajo Galina.
ATTENTION: DON'T follow my track to San Vincenzo. Take the track to you left (see waypoint A) and this will take you back to Avesa.
Ok for dogs, but you will find many loose dogs around.

Bellissima escursione, quasi tutta fuori asfalto, passando per sentieri, strade bianche e boschi appena fuori Verona. Prevalentemente facile, ci vuole solo un poco di gamba appena superate le cave, ed attenzione scendendo il vajo gallina scivoloso, quando l'ho percorso io, dato che le piogge dei giorni precedenti hanno reso fango l'inizio in discesa. Super consigliato.
