After Mount Carmel we headed to Mount Murhaqa, Hebrew for "burnt".
There is a Monastery and Church there that commemorates the sacrifice of the prophet Elijah as a challenge against the priests of Baal. To prove who the true God is, the prophet Elijah proposes that they make a sacrifice, but that it be God who makes fire come down from heaven and consumes the victims placed on two altars.
The prophet makes them begin the sacrifice and fire does not come down from heaven. He makes them pour water, several times, on the wood of his sacrifice to make it more difficult for it to catch fire. Once the wood is soaked, the prophet asks God to consume the sacrifice and fire comes down from heaven that consumes everything: the victim and the altar.
Very nice place to pray. With spectacular views of the surroundings.
