It is a relatively comfortable climb if you are used to the mountains. Start with a lot of slope through cultivation fields. Even motorcycles ride up that road (I do not know how, I guess pushing them).
The road is well marked with signs that say Puncak (top). There are four palapa breaks and information about the route.
The final part is the cone of the volcano covered by very steep volcanic rock. In this area the road is lost a little and there are few signs. Normlamente the summit is covered by fog so you can not see the point you want to reach. The logical thing is to continue climbing without further doubt. However, only one point in the crater is accessible and the others are very steep and with very fragile rock. Therefore it is advisable to follow the route downloaded in your GPS. If you do not take the route and it is cloudy it will be easy to lose your way and end up in the crater but not at the top.
At the top there is a rock needle about 3m higher than the crater's edge. This is the true peak, however, I saw the rock so fragile and no report of having raised it that I preferred not to climb it.
The descent is very fast in the area of volcanic sand and the rest of the way can be done trotting downhill.
With good physical condition and following the road well you can climb in 2:15 although the guides tell you that it will take you 4hrs. The top is narrow and if covered by clouds, have patience that suddenly you can open the clouds for 3 minutes giving you magnificent views.
