Itinerary description
El Cerro Trail/ Monte Guilarte
These trail is recorded from the TOP of Monte Guilarte to the Start of the trail "Trailhead". I forgot to turn on the GPS tracking for wikiloc. So the trail is the other way around, you start at 3,304 feet and go up to 3,950 feet where you hit the top.
I rated the trail as Moderate because it is a bit steep in certain parts and very very slippery in others. Good hiking shoes are advised to do these trail, especially if recent rains have gone by.
Take 2 water bottles per person and a nice snack to enjoy at the top. Don't forget to bring back whatever you took in.
Before going into the trailhead just in front of it, there is a tiny family restaurant and a fruit/candy like store. There you could buy oranges to peel at the top or enjoy other puerto rican typical candy.
Since the trail is somewhat maintained, compass or survival equipment is not needed.
To arrive at Monte guilarte take Route 10 into adjuntas and from there take road 518, be aware that GPS will tend to take you by back roads so pay attention on going in and out of guilarte by road 518 into route 10.
The GPS coordinates for the Monte Guilarte/ El Cerro TrailHead are
(18.145303, -66.767857).
