Itinerary description
Despite its low absolute height of 376 meters, from its summit, you have an excellent all-round view of the surrounding places like Riva del Garda and Nago-Torbole, the surrounding mountains and the north end of Lake Garda. The mountain has a steeply sloping east flank with a rock wall several hundred meters high. On the summit is a communication tower. Since 1992, parts of Monte Brione have been declared a biotope.
The Monte Brione detention group was part of the Riva fortress and belonged to the Austrian fortifications on the Italian border. It consisted of the works Nordbatterie, Mittelbatterie and Garda with connection battery and lay on the Monte Brione northeast of Riva del Garda.
