Itinerary description
This route is half of original one from village of Monodendri to Vikos through the Vikos george (the half starting from Monodendri). The GPS got completly lost several times during the walk and the route is not 100% accurate. The first part is descent from the village (~9000m) to the bottom of the gorge (~500m), following well visible mountain path with stone steps in steeper sections. From this point, fairly flat section begins, along the river (dry at this time of the year). We have done about half of the lenght of the gorge until a point where gorge combines with other canyon from the east. Return done exactly the same path. All along the route, there are amazing views of the george, seen from the bottom.
Level moderate just for descent and ascent to the village (about 400m difference of altitude).
