Mono Lake is located to the east of Yosemite Park and can be accessed through the small village of Lee Vining in central-eastern California. The water in the lake is super salty and alkaline, because for thousands of years the salts that the rivers brought from the mountains precipitated on the bottom of the lake, while the fresh water evaporated. He's a lot of fun, because it's really hard to sink. The water is soaked in the skin, but it is worth swimming!
As the lake is very extensive, I recommend that you go to the area called South Tufa, where you can see beautiful limestone formations by the lake. There is a small 800 m trail to get to.
Next to the lake, there is a 3 km trail that surrounds the Panum Crater, a volcanic cone that offers beautiful views of the lake.
