Itinerary description
Suggest to do this hike or any hike in this area when the natural path is not wet. There are natural stairs that could get muddy, messy, and dangerously slippery. Check the weather and air quality, especially between February and May.
Preparation: 1.5L water is enough; runners are fine.
I went with my 4yo daughter, and we took our time getting to Doi Suthep/Wat Phra That (DS) through Wat Pha Lat (WPL). We went to Wat Anagami (WA) two days ago. For first-timers here, DS and WPL are must-see temples. Getting to WA is steeper with fewer people. The temple is nice but not as interesting as WPT. I didn't see a place that sold water at WPL. At both WPT and WA, coffee, soda drinks, munchies, and even ice cream are sold. My wikiloc profile includes the other trail from the trailhead to WA with pictures.
To get to any of these three temples, Enter "Monk's Trail" on Google Maps or Bolt Taxi App as the destination, this will bring you right up to the trailhead and the main "little map"; details are not very clear, and I really didn't use.
At the trailhead, both early left and right paths do come back together before the intersection between WA and WPL. The right one is easier, more scenic, and cleaner. We already went on the right path two days ago, so we took the left one for curiosity and a change. Either path from the trailhead to WPL takes about 45 mins leisurely.
And about another 1-2 hours to DS from WPL. When you reach the road, go over the road guard rail, cross the road, head left, and back into the jungle.
When you arrive in the second road area, you can go up the road to arrive at the main entrance of DS, or follow our path along the small shaded road on your right. After several stairs and ramps, you arrive at the viewpoint of DS. Behind this is the back entrance to the temple.
Enjoy and carry your garbage!
