Itinerary description
The track has been covered by E-bike for the first and last bit (from Skopelos to Evangelistria monastery, where I left the bike). I have used both the gps Wikiloc and the hiking map (Terrain Editions 2021). I would advise to wear long trousers because of the bushes.
Then the trek starts: the first part is perhaps the least interesting, a bit annoying also the route itself.
Apart from this first bit which ends at the first junction, the route is wonderful!
It goes in the wood (if you are lucky enough you will share the path with nice goats) so it’s often pleasantly shady, with always an outlook on the sea and it also gets very panoramic with stunning views on Aghios Gheorgios and Alonissos.
The whole bit from Aghia Triada to Taxiarches you have always the sea on your side.
The monasteries are beautiful and even if they may be closed they are in wonderful locations. The best ones to me, location-wise, are Aghia Varvara and Prodromos.
Most of the times, the paths beautifully start and end with with stones.
Unfortunately, while on the map (but on the gps) says that after Aghii Taxiarches the path continues, I was not able to locate it and so I had t come back. Nevertheless, a stunning route!
