Itinerary description
Διαδρομή που κατέγραψε ο Ορειβατικός Σύλλογος Ηρακλείου πάνω στο Ευρωπαϊκό μονοπάτι Ε4. Μκος 21 χλμ, διάρκεια περίπου 8 ώρες και με υψομετρική διαφορά 1600μ περίπου.
Περπάτημα σε χωματόδρομο και καθαρό, σηματοδοτημένο μονοπάτι.Μέχρι το εκκλησάκι της Αγίας Άννας η ανηφορική κλίση είναι ήπια, μετά γίνεται πιο απότομη. Το κατέβασμα είναι βατό και με ωραία θέα.
Η διαδρομή μπορεί να περικοπεί στις 6 ώρες με στάση στον οικισμό Θρυπτή, όπου υπάρχει ταβέρνα, και να αφαιρεθεί η ανάβαση στην κορυφή Εσταυρωμένος Χριστός, στα 1476μ.
Μπορεί να συνδυαστεί με Geocaching.
A track recorded by the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion along the E4 European Trail. It's 21 km long, it takes about 8 hours kai the difference in altitude is about 1600m.
The route is along a dirt road and a clear, well-signed trail. Up to the small chapel of Agia Anna the way is mild up, then it becomes steeper. The way down is not difficult and offers a nice view.
The route can be cut down to 6 hours if you don't ascend to the peak Estavromenos Christos at 1476m and you decide to stop at the small village of Thrypti, where there is a tavern.
It can be combined with Geocaching.

Amazing view of Mirabello gulf on top of the hill after Monastiraki. You won't lose the path since there are lots of signs and marks along the way. From Thrypti heading down to Kavousi you see the wonderful view of Psira island. I would try to spend a full day in Kavousi because there are lots of things to discover there like Agriomantra beach, Theriospilios cave, Messona gorge and ancient olive tree!!
