This tour is not a forced march for children's sake. The tour could well be a 'pub-crawl', as there are decent pubs in Brockham (our starting point) as well as more or less halfway.
Brockham itself is worth a visit, somehow quintessential southern England. The center of the town is a huge lawn where citizens and visitors meet for 'tea' at weekends.
We are always amazed at how even in densely populated areas in England there is always a network of small paths that can be combined into tours of all lengths.
So we hike from Brockham along the River Mole (to the Dolphin Inn), and then back in a wide arc. The view goes into the distance over the downs (has nothing to do with down, but with dunes) or directly in front of you in the little woods, whose clearings are strewn with bluebells.
