Itinerary description
In the morning, I left Rasor Road, traversed Shaw Pass, crossed the sand dunes south of the Soda Mountains, passed under the train tracks, and followed Afton Canyon along the dry bed of the Mojave River. This led me to Afton Canyon Campground, one of the few places where the Mojave River holds water. I rested under a shade structure and filled my water bottles from the spigot.
