Itinerary description
Note: Tracks to the actual campsite were created when water was low, there are other ways to get to the mound. If you download the tracks, I suggest you edit them before loading them to your GPS as they have some strange twists in them which I hope to fix someday when WIKILOC is a little more flexible - TEC
This hike takes you south out of the main parking lot, by cow pastures, a bald eagle's nest into a beautiful oak hammock (many other trails in this area). From there you can find your way out to the SJRWMD Persimmon Campsite (They refer to it as Persimmon Mound, but that is in question). A fair portion of the hike is along a marked trail/road. To get to the campsite you have to do a little more looking. My GPS tracks take you to it one of the ways, but there are a few other routes I have taken. As you can see from my other Wikiloc hikes, I have been all over this area. If you elect to follow my hikes, I'm sure you will be as happy with your discoveries as I was. Please, "take nothing but photos and leave nothing but tracks". Happy trails.....
