Itinerary description

Mleiha (Maliha) Mountain Range towards Fossil rock - Sharjah

This is one of our favourite hikes and we have done it multiple times with different groups of people. Main reason being this is one of the closet hiking location from Dubai. Its only 50 kms from Dubai-Sharjah Border and can be reached within 30-40 minutes. View of the Top is magnificent and with the bit of climbing in the centre section, its overall very good hike.

Parking:
There is large opening area on the right side just after when you cross the Mleha mountain in Sharjah-Kalba Main road
Note that if you use Google Map for Fossil Rock, it direct you to get the Khatam Desert Exit, which direct towards desert track of Fossil Rock, which required 4x4.
Instead, just park as a side in the mail road.
Google Coordinates: 25.167089, 55.841660

Starting:
There is small fence in front of the car park area, which you can cross, then take left - descending small muddy road few meters. Once you go down, you will see edge of a large fence on your right side. There is enough space so people can cross that fence and enter to the main valley. You will see different valleys to the mountain range passed the black colour stones valley First one is like sharp edge. Passing that another valley with some black colour stones. Passed that there is another valley which we took.

Once the ascending start, you will reach to a point, where you can choose either go through around 2 meters high part, or go surrounding it. We choose the direct path and climbed the stones. It was not that difficult.
Soon after, you will come to a edge of the mountain where you can see the nice desert view in front of you. Mountain range continues on the left side. Here we need to climb little bit steep climb with lousy rocks.
Once passed that, you will come to a large bare land which go towards the summit – Edge of the mountain range.

We descended through the same way.

Being a summer day, we started from the carpark at 5.20 and reached to the top by 6.30 – 1hour 10 minutes.
It took us 1 hour when descending back to car park.
