Itinerary description
We did this route with the group organised by the Mijas Town Hall and lead by Carmen, Jose and Vega from the company Descubre, Guias del Sur. The idea of this route was to introduce the walkers to the reasons for the creation and the development of the marked Hiking Routes in the Mijas Mountains. At some stage during the morning, we walked part of each of the 8 marked routes. In order to connect from the Green to the Blue Route we walked an unmarked route. This section is difficult because of the surface and the continuous climb. Descending from the highest point of today's route we first followed part of the Red Route (The route of the Malaga Gap). However, once we left the marked route, between Waypoints P4 and P6 we were in difficult and dangerous territory, both because of the surface of loose stones and the very steep descent. Taking into account the climbs, the stony surfaces, and the descents, and also the midday heat, this must be classed as a difficult hike. In Mijas Pueblo we enjoyed a nice "Tapa" before leaving for home. For this route it is essential to adequate clothing and quality boots suitable for mountain hiking, and it is recommendable hike with an experienced group or with experienced guides.
