Itinerary description
Unfortunately I only remembered to start recording part way -- right in the middle of the part that is difficult to find. Leaving Mestia across a bridge (not on the road to Ushguli) there is a sign pointing to Zabeshi and good marking for several kilometers). Eventually as you're going through some pastures the train fades away and you reach a stream. If you start going straight up through the fields you should find the train, which is a cut through the forest going straight up. It was during the straight up that I remembered to turn on wikiloc, so that's where this trail begins. We also took a bit of a longer route than necessary once we reached the ridge line. You can go straight down from the ridge through the villages below. We decided to climb a bit more and then head down. This also meant we had one stream crossing with no bridge, where we decided to take off our boots.
