Itinerary description
This one-way city walk in Mérida starts at Parque de Santa Ana and visits several parks and monuments on its way. Due to the typical pattern of the calles in Mexican cities some parts may be a bit boring as it just goes straightforward ahead. The most vivid place of the city is without a doubt the Plaza Grande which is the beating heart of Mérida. Next to the plaza you find the rather impressive cathedral in old Spanish style. Personally, I also liked the modern architecture of the music hall which is situated nearby.
This part of Mérida is very crowded, so it's recommended to walk in a leisurely pace here. After the visit to the Plaza Grande two other parks are visited and the walk ends in the proximity of Parque de San Sebastian. This walk will give you a fairly good idea of what Mérida has to offer, but I must admit that I didn't find Mérida a particularly interesting place.
