Today we wanted to reach Kothe but once again the large amount of snow has delayed our departure and we have stayed in Thaktor. The sherpas had told us that we would not find so much snow and that the crampons would not be needed. We paid attention to them, crampons on the backpack, and we found ourselves again with strong slopes, usually downhill, covered in snow, which have led to slips and falls. We leave Thuli Kharka and climb towards a pass. From here the path goes down, meandering, through the forest, amidst aromatic plants, which the Sherpas take to burn. This is where falls multiply. Further down we stop at a teahouse where we warm ourselves by the fire, eat a little and hydrate ourselves with tea, and take off our boots to dry our feet a bit. We continue our descent and arrive at the Thaktor lodge, the meeting point of the other Mera trekking route, which, although longer, avoids the snowy heights of the Zatrawa La pass. We decide to stop here for the night even though our packs are already in Kothe. They kindly let us down so that, after a comforting dinner, we sleep warm in our beds. We'll call this place the blanket house. Basically, these shorter stages but at considerable heights should help us acclimatize well.
