Our intention in this second stage was to pass the pass of Zatrawa La, but the amount of snow that has fallen in recent weeks has greatly delayed our march and made me stop in between. We leave Chutanga and soon we find continuous snow. The path goes straight up in the middle of the forest. The views are already spectacular and high peaks appear both behind us and in front. The day is closing in and we arrive at a tea house, Karkateng, at an altitude of 4,100 m. We decide to stay for lunch, dinner and sleep in this precarious but cozy place. We call it the House of the Laughing Woman, as the cook and her daughter laugh very cutely. They prepare hot food for us, soup, rice, dal bhat, eggs... Communal dormitory, no latrines, you have to go outside, in the snow, behind a rock.
