Itinerary description
This hike follows a well-maintained logging road that winds above Meade Creek on its eastern side and into the lovely valley created by the creek. Much of the first 2.5 - 3 km is a steady uphill grade, most of it gradual with only a few steeper sections. The road then levels out and the view opens up to allow some beautiful vistas across the valley and back towards Lake Cowichan.
The trailhead is at the local recycling centre. Parking is available along the side of the road but be careful not to block or restrict the area around the recycling centre entrance.
Meade Creek is located at the western extent of Hill 60 Ridge which forms the north side of the Cowichan River Valley. It is a tributary of Cowichan Lake.
The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an American Volksports Association rating of 2B.
