Itinerary description
A nice easy lope up and through the col with about 800' of elevation gain while heading east. We turned around before reaching Lake Placid because the trail became just too slippery with frozen streams underfoot. On the return trip we headed across the pond from the "boat launch". The quotations are used because this launch would require about a 1.8 mile carry of your boat to this launch. It might be worth it because the pond is both beautiful and secluded. McKenzie Pond is also a water supply for the town of Saranac Lake
