Itinerary description

This hike is a nice workout. The trail is in rough shape due to erosion so I wouldn't recommend it as a trail running or mountain biking trail. I did not see any signs at the trailhead that would indicate what activities are or aren't allowed anyway. If you have hiked black mountain or iron mountain and just want to do something different for a change, it is a nice workout but the view isn't any more spectacular from the others. For me it was just a change of pace and I wanted to try a new trail. Just be careful as there are a lot of steep sections that are very rutty and rocky.

This is a small plateau about halfway up with some nice views.

This is the view from the top. There appears to be numerous trails going down other sides of the mountain as well so there are numerous trail heads other than the one that I used.

This is the trail head which has a small parking lot for about 3-4 cars.

I only tracked myself on the way up which is why the distance seems short. Also I think that my GPS has been flaky lately and that distance looks suspicious. San Diego AF&AF says that this is a 5 mile hike. The elevation info looks reasonably accurate though.
