Mazeri to Mestia, Svaneti, Georgia

Aquest segon tram de travessa potser és el més exigent ja que hem de pujar uns 1600 metres i baixar-ne més de 1800 amb un recorregut total de 22 km. El dia que ho vàrem fer hi havia molta boira i la muntanya Ushba que tenien allà mateix ni tant sols la vàrem poder veure. El recorregut va ser llarg però fantàstic.
Sortim de la casa d’hostes Shuan i continuem avall fins trobar el creuament a la nostra esquerra per començar el camí que ens porta inicialment al pas Guli. La pista acaba a el que era la població de Guli, d’aquí seguint les marques de sender anem pujant, a vegades les perdem però als pocs minuts les tornem a trobar, les vistes cap a la vall són molt maques, a la nostra esquena hi tenim la muntanya Ushba un cop arribats al pas Guli comença la baixada cap a Mestia, arribem a un altre coll des d’aquí podem pujar si ens fa bon temps al cim Guli de 2925m amb uns 40’ on és diu que hi ha unes vistes magnífiques de l’Ushba (4710m) continuem la baixada per la vall del riu Pushkueri, després faldejarem una bona estona per anar al altre costat de la vall, un cop estem a l’altre costat trobarem una pista apta per a vehicles que van als llacs Koruldi, seguirem el track cap a Mestia.

This second stage of the route is perhaps the most demanding since we have to climb some 1600 meters and descend more than 1800 with a total distance of 22 km. The day we did it there was a lot of fog and we couldn’t see the Ushba mountain in the all day. The tour was long but fantastic.
We leave the Shuan Guest House and continue down until we find the crossroads and went left to begin the path that leads to the Guli pass. The car track ends with what was the small village of Guli, from there following the trail marks we go up, sometimes we lose them but after few minutes we meet them again, the views to the valley are very beautiful, on our left hand we have the Ushba mountain, once we reached the Guli pass the descent begins towards Mestia, if there is good weather you can climb the mount Guli (2925) in 40 minute, with beautiful views of Ushba mountain (4710m). You have to continue the descent through the Pushkueri valley, after 400 metres of descending you have to go to the other side of the valley until you find a car track that go to Koruldi lakes. Keep going down following the track, you will find a panoramic view of Mestia, continue going down until the town of Mestia. We stayed in Svan ski guesthouse, very confortable, they don’t serve food, but there’s no problem, because you are in the town center and there are no problem in finding good places to eat.
