Itinerary description
We started from Pune around 5am, reached Ambewadi at 8:30. First 4km is flatish walk of about an hour. Then the trail dips slightly to Umbarne village. Shortly thereafter, the steep section starts rising about six hundred meters in elevation in 2km. Last part of the climb is steps which take you to Malang point. Once you get out of the jungle into open, you get fantastic view of Morbe dam/lake, Irshalgad by it’s side, densely forested valley, and a wall of tall mountain which is backside of Prabalgad. You can spot Kalavantin on it’s right.
Dastur car park is 4-5km away, doesn't feel very pleasant walk after a strenuous climb. You can find share taxi there at ₹100 pp to take you to Neral, or a bus at ₹25. The minitrain doesn’t operate to Neral at present. Path is slippery in rainy season. A walking stick, and good gripping shoes like ctr are needed.
