Itinerary description

Healesville. This is mostly a return hike but with a little loop section at the Donnelly's Weir end.
Park at Maroondah Reservoir and walk up the Rose Steps to the top of the dam wall. Follow the track all the way to Donnelly's Weir. It's well sign posted the whole way. You will follow the old aqueduct some of the way. There is a lovely picnic area at the Weir and really clean toilets (always a bonus!). Make your back back the way you came but instead, continue down Donnelly's Weir Rd. You will soon come to Donnelly's Creek. You can walk through this if you are wearing waterproof hiking boots as it is quite shallow. Otherwise you'll need to take your shoes off. There is no bridge to cross. Once through the Creek continue along the road until you reach 17 Track to your left. Take this. It will take you back to your return track. You have the option of following it all the way back the way you came or you can turn right when you see the track off to your right to the carpark via Henderson Hill. I wanted to go that way today but it was closed due to storm damage.
I really liked the walk. Not too challenging but with some great scenery and change of vegetation along the way.

Absolutely! The water can get quite high. Currently only just below the ankle.
