Itinerary description
Manoa Falls Trail is a 1.7 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
Not too muddy. Did Pu’u Pia trail (no sign of it being closed at trailhead) and then crossed over to Manoa and went up to the falls and hiked back via Manoa trail. Spectacular, easy, saw two other groups, they are constructing a path out of lava rock so tread lightly.
This is one of my favorite legal waterfall trails. Dog friendly and kid friendly. There is safe parking so you don’t have to worry about your car getting broken into. The waterfall doesn’t flow as strongly as it did before the landslide, but it’s still worth the hike. Some of the best views are at the very start of the hike when you are crossing the bridge into the lush rainforest. For all you non-locals: do not go in the water. Manoa stream water consistently tests positive for leptospirosis, a dangerous bacterial disease. There is shade for most of the trail, but expect mud and mosquitos!
