You can drop someone off or park opposite the trail in the Iron Springs Chateau car park, for $15 for 4 hours (It fills up fast in busy seasons). Alternatively, you can park in Manitou Springs and walk the 1.2 miles back to the trail. Spikes are a must in the winter season because the Barr Trail descent is treacherous. Wear good hiking shoes, take water and snacks, and take your time. Do not start off quickly because you will pay the price when the incline really begins to get steep, after the half way mark. Watch your heart rate because it can quickly become elevated, due to the altitude and strenuous nature of the climb. Frequent rests, take photos, and enjoy this spectacular accomplishment.
