Itinerary description
Returned to Mangerton as there are two Mangerton Mountains… not just the one.
Mangerton North is not nearly as popular as her southern sister.
Still, for a nice view of lake guitane, this is where one must go (pic 3).
Another difference from the previous trek is that the loop around the lake “Devil’s Punch Bowl” goes around clockwise…. With a much steeper and quicker climb to the top
The final difference was the extra journey to the official peak for Mangeton which is about 0.5km from the regular track.
The top of this side of Mangerton is a vast plateau of marshy undergrowth and should visibility be poor with low cloud then there is a strong probability of getting lost... so best stay on the regular path at these times.
