Itinerary description
Mangatawhiri Ernies loop returning via Piggets hut.
A nice walk starting on a service road before turning off it at the Ernies track waypoint. It then becomes a nice bush walk with some boardwalks and stairs.Just before starting the climb is a stream crossing that requires taking your boots off and wading 10m across it. The climb is steep with rewarding views at the top. The descent is gradual to Piggets hut then you follow another service road back to the start.
