Trekking around Manaslu carried out between October 4 and 16 inclusive, 2017.
A highly recommended route that combines sports, landscape and culture.

We woke up in Lho with the first lights. It's cold and totally clear. In front of us appears the Manaslu in all its splendor. Its summit is five meters above us. We have breakfast happy for the good day. We take a tour of the town before leaving looking at the Manaslu from all angles.
Today's stage is quite smooth with four hundred meters of unevenness. But Achut the guide proposes us to detour as many as we want to go up to the Pung Gien meadows.
A recommended place to visit. Off the road you can enjoy some of the best views of the trip.

CERCA YAKS

We are going up next to the river that comes down from the Punggen glacier. On the way there is a fence to prevent the cows and yaks that graze in the meadows located above. On the way they are setting up several shops to sell drinks since they expect a lot of hikers at this time. To our left it stands out and highlights the Himal-chuli peak. Its main top has 7,893 meters being the 18th height of the world. Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himalchuli

On the way to Samagaon there is a detour. The guide Achut suggests that we go up to acclimatise ourselves. He informs us that it is a rarely visited area. A hit your information. For me the most beautiful and spectacular valley of the route. A part of the group decides to follow Samagaon. Others of us started the ascent to reach the high meadows and through an impressive journey to reach a monastery and the base of the Punggen glacier. But if you have time it is a VERY RECOMMENDED site. The high meadows are impressive surrounded by mountains, all of them over 7,500 meters.

We woke up with the clear sky. It's cold. And we see the Manaslu. It rises 5,000 meters above us. We went for a walk around the town to see it better since the view from the lodge is limited. A great moment.

A place to visit even if the monastery is closed. The name takes it from the glacier that is next to it. The view is one of the best that the entire route offers. In front we have the Manaslu somewhat covered by clouds. On our left the Nadi Chuli and Himal Chuli.

We arrived in Samagaon, a pretty village at the foot of Manaslu. It was built in 1959 by Tibetan refugees. In this town we are going to stay two days to acclimate and that allows us to enjoy it better. The group will try to climb the base camp at 4,800 meters. We got two of the group. Sama is a town with a lot of history and stories. The most important thing is that there is a school that serves several towns in the valley. In support of its construction have taken part and contributed people and climbers like Carlos Soria and Edurne Pasaban. At the inauguration that was made after the earthquake of 2015, he attended and cut the ribbon Valentín Giró de Barcelona. In Sama there are several lodges but there is one special one. It is a project by Carlos Soria to raise money for the village school. We have heard this on the way back. If we had known, we would have tried to do both nights in that place. I put links about this school because they are very interesting: http://www.helpingtohelp.org/2017/10/inauguracion-de-la-escuela-de-sama-nepal/ http://www.desnivel.com/expediciones/carlos-soria-feliz-en-el-manaslu http://www.valentingiro.com/sin-categoria/el-manaslu-lodge-pionero-en-sama/

On leaving the base camp and on the way to Samagaon, we see on our right a great school. There are little children because they are vacations. When we returned from the trip we learned that this school is an important part of a project of the Himalayista Carlos Soria called "Momentum Himalaya. A great human work. Very interesting links of this project: http://www.valentingiro.com/category/momentum-himalaya/ http://www.valentingiro.com/valentin-giro/el-valle-de-nubri/
