[Malta (GOZO)]: Ramla Beach - Tal-Mixta Cave - Malsarforn

This is a route that runs along a small part of the north coast of Gozo. It starts at Ramla beach and the aim is to climb up to the Tal-Mixta cave which is visible from the beach. As we had one night's accommodation in Marsalforn, we walked there.

The climb to the cave takes about 15 minutes, not much more. It is an enclosed path through the vegetation but it is very easy to follow. The only tricky part is the last few metres up to the cave, which you have to be careful not to slip. Of course, climbing up to the cave is worth it for the views over the bay. I also recommend going up to the cave and not going down it because the last few metres of the ascent can be dangerous if you go down.

The rest of the way to Marsalforn is very easy to follow as you are on the road. There is a steep slope but it is only a 10 minute walk or so along this stretch. The views are not spectacular but for getting around, walking is definitely better than taking a bus.

We were at Ramla beach on Saturday morning and went to sleep in Marsalforn and on Sunday we did the long route of the link.

Esta es una ruta que recorre una pequeña parte de la costa norte de Gozo. Empieza en la playa de Ramla y el objetivo es subir hasta la cueva Tal-Mixta que se ve desde la playa. Y como nosotros teníamos alojamiento una noche en Marsalforn hicimos el camino andando hasta allí.

La subida a la cueva lleva unos 15 minutos, no mucho más. Es un camino cerrado entre la vegetación pero se sigue muy fácilmente. La única parte más compleja son los últimos metros para subir a la cueva que hay que hacerlo con cuidado de no resbalarse. Desde luego que subir a la cueva merece la pena por las vistas que hay de la bahía. También recomiendo subir a la cueva y no bajar por ella debido a que los últimos metros de subida pueden ser peligrosos si se bajan.

El resto del camino hasta Marsalforn es muy sencillo de seguir ya que vas por carretera. Hay una cuesta que se hace dura por la inclinación pero solo son 10 minutos de camino más o menos por este tramo. Las vistas no es que sean espectaculares pero para desplazarse, es mejor andar que coger un bus sin duda.
