Itinerary description

Variation on GR221 in Mallorca. Full GR221 is 140 km in 10 days - this route is 88 km in 7 days (mid section only). Typical walking direction is west to east - this route is desinged east to west in order to start with the harder days first. Can be walked in the normal direction just as well. Access from Palma de Mallorca airport.
Season: April and May are the best. Oct-Nov are the same temeratures but with twice the amount of rain and no spring flowers. Summer is too hot to trek. Winter can be OK unless there happen to be a few stormy days.
7 days duration as indicated on the map (can be extended on either end - see Paddy Dillon's Trekking in Mallorca by Cicerone publishing). Most nights in villages and towns, except the first night in a mountain Refugi Tossals Verds. Most days are 10-14 km long with moderate ascents/descents of about 500 m daily. The toughest day is #2 from the refuge to Soller town with about 1000 m descent (can be slightly less by skipping an optional peak).
