Itinerary description

Fag is a mountain(1432m) located in east Tirana region, near Fag village, in the commune of Shёngjergj – behind Dajti Mountain. The area is well know for Mali me Gropa (the mountain with holes) but still the area doesn’t attract many tourist because of the bad road access it used to have and the lack of tourism facilities. Recently a new road has been built and the area could be reached in one and a half hour from Tirana.

Take the road to Dajti National Park and turn off right at the junction before the park entrance. At the next junction take the new road (right) and take a right turn at Shengjin i Vogel village (at turn off right way-point). Take the dirt road for few meters after the parking and then take the trail in your left before approaching the houses. From here to the plateau the trail is visible. From the plateau to the peak we didn't see any path, maybe because of the snow so we took an easy bushwhack to the summit. The summit offers fantastic views in all directions.

Yes, this should be Mali i Snojt. Snojt resembles an asymmetrical pyramid - looking steep on the north (left in the picture) and rather moderate on the south, towards Bize (right). Will have to add Mali i Fagut to my to-do-list! https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/mali-i-fagut-2358988/photo-903593

From Fag it looks fabulous. I have to add Snojt to my to-do-list as well.

Which route did you take to Biz? The new one which is paved recently and goes through the villages of Shengjergj or the old one?

Snow shoes are essential to climb up Fag in winter time. The snow was very deep when we where there (late Dec). https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/mali-i-fagut-2358988/photo-903593

We have been there on different ways. I attach a link to a map, which is also on my website (palmtreeproduction.com), under the 4wd trail from Dajti to Shengjergj to Klos.

    http://www.palmtreeproduction.com/Hikes%20and%20Climbs/Albania%20Climbs/Dajti%20to%20Klos/Map%20behind%20Dajti.jpg

The new road is the fastest to Shengjergj, but the short part from Shengjergj to the plateau and the old road is very bad and may be impossible in wet weather. It is marked red, between marker C and E, on that map. If unsure, either take the old road (white on my map)via Qafe Molle, or continue from Shengjergj through Shenmarie along the green road, between Marker C and B and continue to Bize. Marker B is near the place from which to climb Mali me Gropa.

The plateau road is at 1400 Meter altitude, and depending on the amount of snow may be impassable, especially in the parts where the sun doesn't reach during winter. Good luck! https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/mali-i-fagut-2358988/photo-903593
