Itinerary description
Semonkong, Lesotho. Lookout to the base of the falls. Steep downhill grade, good shoes and good knees required! Can be very slippery in parts and the path is not very wide for most of the trail. Although there is only one trail down, the path splits several times in parts but comes back together so don't worry - as long as you're heading down (or up on the return) then you will find your way. If you are not a regular hiker I wouldn't recommend this, but if you are determined, then take a guide from Semonkong Lodge - it's not expensive and they are very helpful. Once you're at the bottom, you'll be rewarded with beautiful views of the canyon. Take some time to rest before starting the climb back up! From the viewpoint at the top, to the pool at the bottom of the falls and back, this took us about 3 hours.
