Itinerary description

Exceptionally beautiful trail with a variety of natural and historical points of interest.

I stayed the night in Hinterhersmdorf and Hrensko, a km or so south of Schmilka. This was a short day, but not quite easy, the uphill is long and the downhill intense. The walking surface is, for the most part, a forest trail. There is some tree-fall along this section, several trees to step over or under. There is a small shop in Hinterhersmdorf, a few restaurants in Schmilka.

From my accomodation I took a bus for several stops to Räumichtmühle. From the road, trail starts climbing through the forest, then down to the river Kirnitzsch, and up again most of the way. There are two optional, very short, detours for views (waypoints 3 and 7). The way down to Schmilka is long and steep. There is a nice bakery/beergarden and other restaurants to recover. There is a bus, ferry across the river and train station.
