Itinerary description
From the Maleny Showgrounds, you walk along a very pretty, rainforest boardwalk onto Coral Street. Head downhill and across the road onto the new Maleny Boardwalk along the Obi Obi Creek. Its a well formed and signed track. This section is called "Peace in the Trees Sculptural Walk." Next stop and look for platypus at the viewing platform. The track then continues beside the creek. Turn off (right) at the picnic area sign. This takes you 50m down to a beautiful section of the creek with sandstone walls (this is where I saw a platypus.) From there, return to the track and walk to Reynolds Crossing where, if the creek is low, you can cross to check out Gardner Falls. The return journey from Reynolds Crossing takes you along the edge of the Golf Course. If you wish to add an extra kilometre to your hike, you can take the Wetlands Trail just to the right, about 400m past the historic Pattemores House, and back onto the track beside the Obi Obi which you started from.
