Itinerary description
This was a route where we tried to follow the route of the "antiguo acueducto de San Telmo" - built between 1782 and 1784 to supply water to the city of Malaga from the river Guadalmedina. The aqueduct is 11 kms long and has 33 bridges and 30 aqueducts.
This is the first section, from Malaga city to just before the motorway A-7 near the Botanic Gardens. It's not a great hiking route really...because much of the ancient structure has been buried beneath housing estates and 200 years of city development. But it's interesting to pick out some of the main sections, and the "Puente de 11 ojos" is quite spectacular.
