Itinerary description
Maja e Mureve is a beautiful hike that we start from the road between Kuc and Gusmar. Also, this peak represents a legend that the eastern slopes of the mountain are said to have had walls, surrounding walls of old houses, so old as to mention Ancient Epirus, the Illyrians, the Roman armies, the settlements stretched from half of the mountain and down into the many valleys that today comprise the province of Kurveles, maybe it was an ancient town. According to this legend says that it is one of the settlements destroyed by the Roman general Paul Emili. The ascend is moderate and beautiful because passes through forest and meadow full of flowers in this period. The trail is not well marked and you need to have gps device with you.
For the descent I do not recommend to follow the trail as we did because we go down the mountain without followed any trail for the first 2.5 km and after that we found an old sheep trail but very narrow and covered with bushes. The descent part is not marked at all. You can try if you have a gps device with you and you have good orientation skill.
