Itinerary description

Maja e Bukanikut is the highpoint of Mali i Shpatit (the Shpat Mountain Range). It is possible, with a 4WD, to drive up to 1512 Meter. From there the hike to the summit takes about one hour.

From the summit, one can see down to Elbasan and - depending on weather and visibility - you can see the Adriatic Sea. Bukanikut is for Elbasan what Dajti is for Tirana.

If you don't have a 4WD vehicle, you also may walk from the village of Gjinar, at 960 Meter, following the rocky road to the trailhead indicated here. Gjinar is connected with Elbasan by an asphalt road and bus service.
