Itinerary description
Maja Çekut 1830m
Maja e Çekut is a mountail located on south part of Stogoi Mountain and is part of Lungare Ridge. The trailpoint is 1.4km from Lepenice village on altitude 211m. The first 2.2km is unpaved road and you can drive with the car. We followed another trail through the bushes but there is not trail there. So it is better if you follow the unpaved road. At 2.2km you should return left and the path proceed with the fency. Anyhow you should have a reference GPS trail to follow.
After 3.2km the trail continue up the mountain and is easy to follow. The slope is roughly 20-30%. On 5.3km,1155m, there are two option to follow. We followed the path on the left, there is not really a trail, we just walked up. Better to follow the descending path as it is mostly on the trail. The path on the left is more challenge and goes through rocks and Cliff. It is beautiful view once you are close to cliff. The visible trail continues till 5.9km,1380m and after that there is no trail a all, just follow the GPS signal.
After 6km the slope is higher, roughly more than 35%, after this point you continue on the ridge till the summit.
Distance till the summit is 6.9km with an elevation gain of 1630m. It took us 4.5h to reach summit. It takes roughly 8h for the whole distance. Technical difficulty is more than moderate.
On the summit you have a magnificent view. On the east there is Shushica Valley, on the south west there Cika Mountain and on the north-west Karaburun Peninsula.
