Itinerary description

From Thornton trailhead to Boonah border gate. A composition of three walks. The only hard technical section is the climb up the final cliff of Mt. Huntley. The rest of the entire route is easy to moderate on a mix of formed tracks, fire trails or defined and faint walking pads and some occasional scrambles. Navigation is overall easy and moderate on south side of Mt. Mitchell, south side of Spicer peak, north and south side of Mt. Asplenium and some section of the descent of Mt. Superbus saddle. Highest point of the route is Mt. Roberts at m.1331.
Most spectacular places are in my view: creek and waterfalls below Banshee Campsite, Bare Rock lookout, Mt. Mitchell summit lookout, hiking section between Mt. Doubletop and Huntley saddle, Fern Tree gully on Huntley south-side, hiking section between Lower Panorama Point and Lizard Point, fern garden near Davies Ridge, Lizard point lookout, Steamers lookout near Mt. Superbus saddle.
Reliable water sources: from Thornton to Banshee camp, water is available at every campsite conveniently, including a running creek before Banshee. From Cunninghams Gap to Boona Border Gate, the only reliable water sources near the route I found are: creek running between Mt. Mitchell and Spicer Gap, Fern Tree Gully south of Mt. Huntley summit, a creek at Steamers Saddle and Teviot creek at the base of Superbus Saddle, near Teviot Gap.
