Itinerary description
This trail turned out to be extraordinary in many ways. We went there at the end of March and still there was snow all around. Part of the trail (between Madari Fire Lookout Station and Selladi tou Katamanli) wasn’t walked by anyone after the last snowfall and we tried to identify the trail in the virgin snow.
The trail is beautiful and very diverse in surroundings and views. There are plenty of endemic flora - golden oaks, cedars, etc. along the trail. Views from the summit are fantastic.
TERRAIN: mainly narrow forest and rocky paths. Moderate elevation. Some steep but relatively short ascents. Overall the trail can be categorized as moderate but a few demanding parts add to the difficulty. Hiking poles would be handy.
SEASON: 60-70% is in shade or semi shade, so potentially walkable all year round, however ascents usually lack enough shade. In winter almost the whole trail including most of the lower parts may be covered in snow, sometimes knee deep.
SIGNS: the trail has plenty of plant signs, but some old ones vanished, there are some direction signs but trail is absolutely definable on its own. Some parts of the trail have enough of resting places, some lack them.
KIDS: the trail is not easy and has a few unprotected narrow rocky paths. Thus min 7-8 yo should be allowed.
Plenty of parking is available at the trail start.
The trail can be combined with the small circular Tisia tis Madaris trail - https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/tisia-tis-madaris-nature-trail-chandria-113393010 as they have an intersection near fire lookout station.

It was an amazing trail, from the endemic species seen on the trail to the smell of pine trees and the beautiful views to the vine yards!
