Itinerary description
Very well marked trail one of the best what I have seen here. Elevation and length require good condition, a few places are narrow other ways not difficult. Not recommend to family walks and kids. The trail starts with high elevation and end as well with high elevation. Views are magnificent everywhere, especially at the fire lookout station

This is a superb 13-km long circular trail near Madari mountain peak (in the area of Pitsilia, on the Troodos mountain range). As this is circular, there are a number of relatively convenient starting points.
The trail is of medium difficulty, without very steep ascents and descents. One may enjoy great views towards the south, including Morphou bay, and to the north, including the village of Kyperounta and Troodos peak (to the west there is view towards the village of Spilia). There is great variety in vegetation; travelers walk past golden oak, wild rose and mastic bushes, junipers, pine, strawberry trees, rock rose and sage, and even cedar, plane trees and bracken.
One may also see the interesting rock formations in the area. Travelers may also stop at the beautiful Xyliatos manmade lake as well as Panagia tou Araka church, one of the ten Unesco World heritage painted churches of Troodos.

he trail offers exceptional views of the Troodos Mountains, Morfou Bay and the valley of Mesaoria.
Mesaoria is the highest valley of Cyprus, between the mountains Troodos and Pentadaktylos. Its name in case you did not know, means "area between mountains". In this valley King Onisilos of Famagusta gave his last battle and defeated the Persian army during the Ionian Revolt.
Mesaoria has a width of about 65 km and a length of about 35 kilometers and the two largest rivers of Cyprus Pediaios and Gialias run through it. Today the valley is located in the occupied territories of Cyprus republic. However, until the Turkish invasion in 1974, it was considered the breadbasket of Cyprus, since it offered the majority of cultivated wheat and barley.
Geologically the valley of Mesaoria composed of calcareous sandstone, fossiliferous marl and gravel deposits. You should also know that 120,000 years before, the area used to be a sea and over the years with the silting of Troodos and Pentadaktylos created today's valley.
As we move on, the route of the trail passes you through the forest and at some point later, around the middle, the scenery changes and is enriched with beautiful junipers. The trail connects with other trails and paths specifically Madari-Doxa si o Theos, Teisia Madari, Moutti Country -Selladi Karamanlis and Selladi Karamanlis - Kannavia. Through 2 km of paved road, it is also connected with the Lagoudera - Agros trail. Access to the starting point you can get via vehicle from the road Beads - Polystypos. The last 800m of the access road is very bumpy and steep road so I recommend you proceed with great care!

This is moderate to difficult especially if taken in the summer as there are no places to refill water flasks and with the heat and elevation gain towards the end, some people might find this a little overwhelming. I walked it with two kids aged 14 and 17. They did all of it minus the last 800m as we had ran out of water despite having taken 2 liters each and decided not to push to the end. However the scenery is amazing and it is a lot of fun. Recommended but to those that are in reasonable shape.

Quite a good trail, easy to follow, many benches, especially on the first half of the route.
Keep in mind you have to do uphill in the very end of the route after you complete 10 km. It was a nightmare for me although the weather was not hot at all and it was even raining a bit.
But that's a good hike to train your stamina.
Liked it but don't know when to comeback :)

By far the best trail I did in Cyprus. In general it is not that difficult, except for the last part, which is pretty steep and a bit boring. Did it in February, and it was like hiking through the seasons, with scorching summer on the southern face of the mountain and with to 40 cm of snow and frozen streams on the northern side. Very beautiful and diverse scenery and a very memorable hike.

Excellent trail. Provides a good variety of landscapes, trees, rock formations, view points and valleys. Easy to follow an connects to other trails that are also beautiful.
The elevation gain and loss require good physical condition. There are no water fountains so take enough water with you.
We walked through Selladi Karamanlis trail to extend the total distance before heading to Moutti Country and the views were breathtaking.

Passed it at the beginning of July: there are places with shadow, not all the trail under the sun. There are a lot of viewpoints with amazing views.
