Itinerary description

Madamas Beach situated on the North Coast between Matelot and Blanchisseuse is one of the best places for a campout. The river that flows parallel to the sea is what makes this beach exceptional. Its crystal clear water which is calm and soothing remains untouched from human contamination. It is one of the most far fetch beaches to get to but its elegance is worth the effort. The ambience of the bay feels like heaven on earth, and few can imagine that such beauty exists. It should be on every Trini bucket list as one of the must see places. The bank of the river decorated with coconut and almond trees and emerging from the sand are leather-back turtle hatchlings. There is no jetty for boats to come in safely, and the only means of getting there is by hiking 4 hours from Matelot or 6 hours from Blanchiseuse or Brasso Seco.

Since it is challenging for boats to bring supplies into the bay, the purpose of the expedition is to test one’s experience in outdoor camping. Items needed for the camp-out will have to be carried on a backpack that includes food, hammocks or tents. The trek starts at Brasso Seco Village and with a full backpack it will take 6-8 hours to reach the bay. On Saturday 23rd August Fitness Walkers test one's survival skills in an overnight camp-out at Madamas Beach.

WOW what a fantastic trip. I guess carrying 35 lbs of water gear and tent made for a great work-out. The Madamas beach itself was splendid and surreal. Camping on the beach was heavenly. Breakfast was quite a belly-full as everyone wanted to lighten their load for the return trip. Only regret was the stay was not longer.
    Can't wait to return.
